" It doesn't matter which Organization finds the Children,
but how fast we find the Children."
In NEVADA, OVER 6,000 CHILDREN are reported missing each year. Approximately 400 children are missing as a result of a family or parental abduction. In the last 20 years, 14 Nevada children were victims of a stranger abduction; 7 children were later found murdered, 5 children have never been recovered and are feared dead, and 2 children were recovered alive.
IN RESPONSE TO THE STAGGERING numbers of missing children, the Nevada Legislature created the Nevada Missing Children Clearinghouse in 1991. The Clearinghouse not only acts as a central registry for missing children reports, but is an information resource for child protection issues. The Clearinghouse works in tandem with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, all Nevada law enforcement, all 50 states' clearinghouses and their law enforcement agencies, and often serves as an informal resource for a left-behind parent in obtaining assistance in recovering their child.
