Kids finding Kids

The concept of Bannerkids is quite simple.
Bannerkids makes the public aware of missing kids through Banners. Having
a website for missing children is a great idea, but unfortunately there
are lots of these websites and no connection between them. So, it's
possible that one site has some kids and another site has other kids, but
no site shows all of them.
Well, seeing this dilemma that was happening on the
internet, I decided to change the rules and come up with a program that
would consolidate every website in the world dealing with Missing
Children. So, I came up with Kids
finding Kids.
(Note) Little did I know at the time
that this project was two fold, (1) Getting kids to help me put
missing kids from all the different websites together on one site,
bannerkids. (2) educating the kids on the perils of running away, or being
aware of there surroundings so there would be less chance of being
abducted themselves.
I met a teacher that taught computer classes
at a local high school and told him of my circumstances.
He happened to be the director of the PAL program, and invited me
to speak to his classes about my situation. When I walked into his
classroom and saw all those students with computers, I knew that this was the answer to my predicament.
I explained to the class what was
happening with the missing kids. Using the computers, we
went to the different websites of missing kids. Low and behold, the kids
started yelling "I know that person." Well, that confirmed my feelings
that Kids will find kids if given the opportunity and that this program is
going to be a success, so that is when I came up
with the program.
Kids finding Kids
Now there are 80 student programmers putting the
profiles together in our State for Bannerkids.
There are a lot of missing
kids around the world to find. If your High School would like to join the
program across the country or around the world, please send Bannerkids an E-mail at
info@bannerkids.org.
If you would like to make a contribution to make this program a reality,
please go to the contribution page. The kids need your help!
Your High School needs
to be involved.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank my new
PALs at LVHS for understanding the importance of this program, and Thank
you Mr. Bray for being my PAL.
